Multiplying by 10 & 100 becomes tricky when numbers aren’t rounded. Students must be able to partition the numbers. If they can partition, they can answer questions mentally. 45 x 90 becomes 40 x 90 & 5 x 90, and then add the answers together. This is a great way to solve this tricky calculations mentally!
