Grade 5 Dividing by 10 & 100

Students in grade 5 begin to divide numbers by 10 & 100. It’s not a tricky concept, but it does take explicit teaching and practice. All you need to remember is that the decimal goes to the left! The amount of places depends on how many 0s are in the number. For example, 87.5 ÷ 100 –> the decimal moves 2 places to the left because there are 2 0s (the 100). Not too hard!
